You are invited to a special Mass celebrating the 80th Anniversary of King’s College on September 8, 2026 at 4:00pm in the Chapel of Christ the King.
Why this date? On September 8,1946, Bishop William Hafey, who invited Fr. Connerton and the Congregation of Holy Cross to found King’s College, celebrated the College’s first Convocation Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Wilkes-Barre.
On this September 8, Bishop Joseph Bambera, Bishop of the Diocese of Scranton, will preside at the 80th Anniversary Mass and Fr. Tom Looney, C.S.C., our College President, will preach. This Mass is open to the public, especially those connected to the past, present and future of King’s College. Please forward to people who might appreciate an invitation.
At the first Mass, Bishop Hafey began his homily by saying, “The day when a seed is planted is a day of rejoicing that is rooted in hope.” We are the fruit of that planting!
We hope this will be a joy-filled and prayerful celebration of the past 80 years of King’s and a hope-filled inspiration for our future.
